Collymore Backs Newcastle To Recruit “Very Good” Arsenal Player Who Could Be A Revelation If He Finds The “Right Club”

Collymore Backs Newcastle To Recruit “Very Good” Arsenal Player Who Could Be A Revelation If He Finds The “Right Club”

Newcastle should consider making a move for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney this summer, according to Stan Collymore.

The Scottish international has found game time hard to come by at the Gunners this season following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko, but Collymore feels that the Magpies would have an excellent player on their hands if they managed to land the defender:

“If Newcastle were serious about raising eyebrows and continuing with known British-based or Premier League players rather than the likes of say an Mbappe, I think Kieran Tierney would be very good. He’s been unlucky with injuries at Arsenal but I like him a lot and I think he could do an Andy Robertson if he found the right club.”

Tierney was linked with a switch to St James’ Park last month, so Collymore is probably correct in believing that a transfer at the end of the season could be on the cards.

Other teams, including Manchester City, have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the ex-Celtic star but, as Collymore mentions, the fullback’s fitness problems may put off certain clubs.

If Newcastle manager Eddie Howe can get Tierney fit and firing, though, he would be a tremendous asset for the team. We shall see what happens when the transfer window opens.
