Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane is not interested in joining Newcastle, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

The journalist, who has a mixed track record when it comes to transfer rumours, claims that Bayern would be open to selling the former Liverpool player but there is no chance that he will move to St James’ Park:

“Bayern are hoping for an offer from Chelsea – offers from Premier League clubs are welcome in Munich (!) – but there are no seriously interested parties at this stage. Any potential interest from Newcastle doesn’t appeal to Mane either.”

Mane has been tipped to return to the Premier League, following a troubled first season in Germany, where he has struggled for form and clashed with teammates.

Considering Newcastle are in the market for a new no.9, the Magpies seemed like a logical destination but the Senegalese international has seemingly ruled out any potential deal.

In terms of possible alternatives, Eddie Howe’s team have been linked with plenty of names, including Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, Barcelona’s Ansu Fati and Raphinha. We shall see who ends up being top of the club’s shortlist of targets in the coming weeks.
