Roma forward Paulo Dybala has been offered to Newcastle, according to reports in the English media.
The Argentinian international has a clause in his contract that means he can move to a foreign club for just €12m (£10.5m) this summer and his representatives have made the Magpies and five other Premier League teams aware of his availability.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Aston Villa have also been informed, and it will be interesting to see who will be tempted by Dybala’s bargain price.
Since leaving Juventus on a free transfer last year, the 29-year-old has performed well for Roma, scoring 16 goals in all competitions, but his injury record remains a concern.
This campaign alone, Dybala has been sidelined with hamstring, adductor and ankle problems. He is currently sitting on the treatment table having last played against Atalanta over ten days ago.
You do wonder whether Newcastle boss Eddie Howe would consider making an approach for someone who has such a chequered history with his fitness.
