Newcastle And Arsenal ‘Have Made Contact’ With The Entourage Of The ‘Turkish Messi’ As Both Plan ‘Official Offer’

Newcastle and Arsenal “have made contact” with the family of Fenerbahce attacking midfielder Arda Guler, according to Turkish-Football.com.

The website claims that sources have told them that the two Premier League clubs have reached out to the player’s entourage ahead of making an “official offer” for the 18-year-old.

Guler, who has been labelled the “Turkish Messi” by some media sources, is thought to be open to leaving Fenerbahce and the Super Lig side are also willing to sell for the right price.

What do Newcastle fans need to know about Guler?

The teenager is already a Turkish international, having made his senior debut for his country as a substitute against the Czech Republic back in November. He received his second cap in March during a 2-0 defeat to Croatia.

At club level, Guler has only really been a regular starter for Fenerbahce over the last few months, having scored six goals and provided six assists in 33 appearances this season.

In terms of his favourite position, the playmaker is happiest in the no.10 role but he can also be deployed on both flanks.
