Newcastle Could Make Shock Move For Chelsea Loanee With Price Tag Set To Drop To £61.7M

Newcastle could be the main beneficiaries if Chelsea opt to send Joao Felix back to Atletico Madrid after his loan spell, according to reports in the Spanish media.

The Portuguese international has struggled for form since moving to Stamford Bridge and it is looking increasingly likely that the Blues won’t pay the €100m (£88m) that Atletico are demanding for the striker.

With manager Diego Simeone not keen on keeping Felix and, with the funds from the player’s sale having already been set aside for new signings, the club are set to lower their asking price to get him off their books.

It is believed that the 23-year-old could be available for between €70m (£61.7m) and €80m (£70.5m), which could bring the Magpies to the table.

Eddie Howe’s side were reportedly interested in Felix before Chelsea secured his services and, with finances not an issue, especially if they qualify for the Champions League, they may consider making a bid for the forward.
