Newcastle Lining Up Free Transfer Swoop For Ex Arsenal Star

Newcastle are considering whether to snap up Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Arsenal player is out of contract at the end of the season and he is not expected to extend his current deal at Anfield.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has had his fair share of injury problems over the years, and he was sidelined for the first two months of this season with a hamstring issue.

However, he has been fit and available since October and it seems Magpies boss Eddie Howe is ready to take a chance on the 29-year-old, who cost Liverpool £35m when he moved from Arsenal in the summer of 2017.

The Mail claim that other teams are also interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain. Brighton and Aston Villa are expected to make their own offers, while there are thought to be a few Italian clubs circling as well. We shall see who wins the race for his services.
