Newcastle are contenders to sign Barcelona forward Ansu Fati this summer, according to Sport.

The Catalan publication claims that the Magpies, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United will all be in the mix if the Spanish international leaves the Camp Nou.

Fati’s father has spoken out this week to question why his son hasn’t been given more playing opportunities by manager Xavi. He was handed the no.10 jersey when Lionel Messi left for PSG, as many believed he could succeed the Argentinian legend, but game time has become increasingly hard to come by.

With Barca under pressure to balance the books, the 20-year-old has been mentioned as one of the players who could be sacrificed, with a €60m (£53m) price being slapped on his head.

It is unlikely that Newcastle would be frontrunners for Fati’s signature but it appears that they will be involved in the discussions if a transfer becomes a real possibility at the end of the season.
