Newcastle are contenders to sign Chelsea forward Joao Felix, according to Marca.
The Portuguese international will leave Stamford Bridge and return to Atletico Madrid when his loan deal expires next month, but his parent club are looking to sell the player on a permanent basis.
There was a possibility that Felix could remain with the Blues but Marca report that there is no firm agreement for the player to stay in London beyond the end of the season.
Newcastle are seen as the main alternative due to two factors. Firstly, they have the money to match Atletico’s €100m (£86.8m) asking price, and secondly, they are likely to have Champions League football, which is a competition that Felix wants to be playing in next campaign.
Should the Magpies be interested in signing Felix?
Based on the striker’s loan spell at Chelsea, there is very little to suggest that he is worth the sort of fee that Atletico are demanding for him.
Since moving to England, Felix has scored just three goals and provided zero assists in 18 appearances.
