Wolves will make Newcastle target Ruben Neves available for £40m this summer, according to reports in the English media.
The Portuguese international was linked with a move to St James’ Park during the January transfer window, and it is believed that the Magpies have retained their interest since then.
Neves will have only twelve months remaining on his contract at the end of the season and it is expected that he will leave Wolves after six years at Molineux. Teammate Jose Sa has previously lavished a lot of praise on Neves, stating that he rates the midfielder highly:
“Ruben is a fantastic player, he’s amazing.”
Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in Neves, but a lot will depend on who is prepared to pay Wolves’ asking price.
The 26-year-old could be an excellent foil for Bruno Guimaraes in the middle of the park and, if Newcastle do end up qualifying for the Champions League, he may well be tempted by a move to the North East.
