Newcastle United In Pursuit Of 35-Cap Premier League All-Star

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil winger Lucas Moura, according to a report from Torcedores.

His contract at Tottenham is set to expire in the summer – if it is allowed to run out, Newcastle could snap up the 35-cap Brazilian on a free transfer.

They aren’t the only ones who are believed to be interested in the Brazilian winger, however – Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Roma, Lazio and Marseille are all also thought to be in the hunt.

Since the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Lucas’ game time has been severely limited. This season, the 30-year-old has made just 13 appearances for Spurs in the Premier League, scoring no goals and picking up zero assists.

He has enjoyed plenty of highlights during his time in North London – perhaps Lucas’ best moment in a Spurs shirt came during their 2019 Champions League semi-final against Ajax, where he netted a last-minute winner to send them through to the final, where they were beaten by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Outside of Spurs, Lucas has also played for Sao Paulo and PSG. Over the course of his 35 caps for Brazil, he has scored four goals on the international stage for Seleção Canarinha.
