Key Newcastle Star Tipped For November Injury Comeback In Blow For Eddie Howe

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe won’t have Alexander Isak back available for the game against Everton this weekend, according to the player’s national team manager.

The 25-year-old has missed the Magpies’ last two games against Manchester City and AFC Wimbledon with a toe injury and Sweden head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson says the player won’t be ready to play for his country during the next international break either:

“One of the best forwards in the world is missing [for Sweden’s matches in October]. He is really disappointed not to be able to contribute and help the team. However, he is not ready to perform due to injury, but I am sure he will come back in November and help us.”

Tomasson suggests that Isak should be in contention for the November internationals, but Howe will be keeping his fingers crossed he will be back before then.

Isak may only need a short break to recover

Having already spent 10 days on the sidelines, the forward will have an additional 17 days of recovery time before Newcastle’s first game after the international break versus Brighton on October 19th.

For now, you can probably pencil in that fixture as Isak’s return date, although there is no official confirmation that he will make his comeback then.

What are Newcastle’s fixtures between now and the start of November

As mentioned, Howe’s team play Everton on Saturday night before returning to club action against the Seagulls later this month.

They then face a doubleheader versus Chelsea; the first is an away game in the league before they take on the Blues at St James’ Park in the Carabao Cup a few days later. They begin November by hosting Arsenal, with Nottingham Forest being the last fixture prior to the next round of international matches.
