Happy Holidays Toon Fans! – Newcastle United News Christmas Review

Newcastle United News would like to wish Toon fans a happy festive period with hopes of an improved second half of the year.

Heading into the season, Newcastle fans will have been optimistic after a season in which they were able to qualify for the Champions League and win their first silverware in a generation. However, it was a slow start for Eddie Howe’s side.

However, it should be a very happy Christmas for Newcastle fans, as they are doing well in Europe and beginning to gain momentum under Howe in the Premier League heading into the second half of the season.

Newcastle’s season so far

It was a poor start to the season for the Magpies, as they were winless in their first three games, but they did show signs of promise in the Champions League, with wins against Benfica and Athletic Bilbao. Howe’s side did pick up their form in Autumn, and are now hoping to push further up the table to climb back into the European spots where they belong.

Much of the talk around Newcastle this season has been about Alexander Isak, who controversially joined Liverpool in the summer. He was replaced by Nick Woltemade, who Newcastle signed, and the German international has become a fan favourite at St James’ Park.

The striker has scored seven goals in 14 games in the Premier League, and has been the ideal replacement for Isak, who has struggled at Liverpool. Woltemade and Newcastle will hope to improve for the second half of the season.

Will Newcastle do much in the transfer window?

Another thing that the Christmas period brings, is ramped up transfer rumours, as Newcastle United prepare to enter the January window, hoping to strengthen their squad even more. One name who has been linked in the summer and into the Winter, with a move to St James’ Park, is Man City goalkeeper James Trafford, who is sitting behind Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Etihad.

Furthermore, Newcastle are also expected to try and strengthen in their midfield, as they want more options alongside the likes of Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes. Former Magpie Elliot Anderson has been linked with a return, but he is also linked with Man City and Manchester United.

Even so, everyone at Newcastle United News would like to wish Toon fans a very happy holidays, and let’s hope that Howe’s side can climb up the table, and push on in the Champions League.
