Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho has reached out to Newcastle via intermediaries to register his interest in taking the Magpies job, according to The Guardian.
The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager is said to have made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wants to be considered if they decide to part ways with Eddie Howe in the future.
While they are a few fans on X that would welcome Mourinho, the majority don’t believe the Portuguese would be a good fit for the club:

No.
We need to build an identity as a club, the same way Liverpool have. Klopp implemented his style of play into their academy as well and hence they could seamlessly integrate that into their first team. Slot improved upon that.Getting Mourinho would unravel everything.

Not for me. He’s a bit of a dinosaur now. Football has changed but he hasn’t.

Mourinho’s recent managerial record is not good
Since being sacked by Manchester United in December 2018, the 61-year-old has managed three clubs where his record is less than stellar.
Mourinho failed to win a trophy at Spurs where he had a win ratio of 51.2%. After leaving the London club, he joined Roma where he did secure one trophy, the UEFA Conference League, but his win ratio dipped below 50%.
Following his spell in Italy, he moved to his current team Fenerbahce in June. The Turkish side are already 5 points adrift of leaders Galatasaray.
What has Howe said on his Newcastle future?
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Nottingham Forest, Howe reflected on his time in charge, saying:
“When you look back on the three years as a whole, you just think to lots of positive memories and good feelings. I am thrilled to still be sat in the position and still dreaming of what may lie ahead.”
It doesn’t look like Howe intends to leave his post at St James’ Park anytime soon.
