According to GiveMeSport, Newcastle United is lining up a move for Lille FC striker Jonathan David, however, there has also been interest from West Ham United and Spurs.
David’s price tag is likely to be at least £25 million, with an estimated value of around £40 million. Lille FC accepts that David will be leaving this summer as his contract expires next year and they will want to sell him for a profit.
Upon hearing the news, Newcastle United fans took to X to voice how they would feel should the Magpies make a move for the 24-year-old.
Would be a dream signing. He is brilliant, been that for some years already.
This is the player that would be my first choice to sign. He is a perfect match for us and he is exactly what we are looking for.

He would be a great buy for us, imagining the Isak-David pair up front.

I’ve wanted us to sign him for years! He’d be a massive upgrade on Wilson. And I don’t think he’d be that expensive

Not good enough for Europe chasing PL level

Please please let that happen
My dream striker wearing black and white

He’s not a bad second option behind isak but as a Canadian I can tell you there’s a lot of games where he’s invisible so don’t get your hopes up to high on him! If we can get him a good price then do it. But please do not over pay for this guy it will be a mistake

Get it done – would be just what we need as a second striker!!

Who are Newcastle United competing with for David’s signature?
The Magpies aren’t the only Premier League side that are interested in the Lille striker. West Ham United are also keen on signing him and have been linked to the 24-year-old for over two seasons now.
Furthermore, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have also been linked with David. Journalist Ben Jacobs said on the London is Blue podcast: “I’d keep an eye on Spurs as well and I’m told that Lille will accept well under £30m, around €30m instead of pounds, so around £25m, so Chelsea could be one to watch there.”
A replacement for Callum Wilson?
Newcastle striker Callum Wilson could be on his way out this summer as many clubs have been in the running for the injury-prone striker.
West Ham is a name that has been touted around Wilson with a move to the Saudi Pro League also looking likely for the 32-year-old.
