REPORT: £30m Newcastle United Target ‘Open’ To Magpies Move Despite Spurs And Forest Interest

Brentford striker Yoane Wissa is reportedly open to a move to Newcastle United this summer amid the Magpies’ attempts to sign him.

Newcastle have already lost out on several striker targets this summer. Firstly, they failed to sign Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea, and then they missed out on Hugo Ekitike, who looks set to join rivals Liverpool.

Amid their attempts to try and keep hold of Alexander Isak, Newcastle are now looking at Brentford striker Yoane Wissa as their next striker target. It could be hard for them to land the 28-year-old though, as the Bees already sold Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.

Reported by Sky Sports, Newcastle saw a £25m bid for Wissa rejected by Brentford, who are understood to want upwards of £30m for the forward. However, the Magpies are expected to come in with another offer.

Wissa open to Newcastle move

The same report by Sky claims that the striker himself is willing to move to Newcastle this summer, and the lure of Champions League football at St James’ Park could be enough for him to place a transfer request to try and force a move out of London.

Wissa has also been subject to transfer interest from rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and Nottingham Forest, who Newcastle recently signed Anthony Elanga from.

The possibility of Newcastle landing Wissa all hinges on Brentford’s willingness to sell him. As much as they are reluctant because of Mbeumo’s departure, Wissa does have just one year left on his contract, and so could force a move out if he demands wages that are too high.

Last season, the Congolese attacker was one of the best in the Premier League, so it is no surprise that Eddie Howe is keen. Wissa managed to score 19 league goals in 35 games, he also provided four assists, helping Brentford to an impressive season under manager Thomas Frank.
