Newcastle United have been “offered” Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, according to reports.
Chronicle Live claim that the 23-year-old’s representatives have been in touch about a potential transfer to St James’ Park.
Suzuki is expected to be available for around £17m (€20m), but it is believed that the Magpies have yet to make a final decision on whether to make a move.
They have scouted him before, and the shot-stopper does have interest from other Premier League teams, including Aston Villa and Leeds.
Suzuki played for his country this summer
The Parma keeper has been capped 28 times by Japan, including 4 games at the World Cup. He took the gloves for the 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in the opening group fixture, the 4-0 win over Tunisia, the 1-1 draw versus Sweden, as well as the heartbreaking last gasp defeat to Brazil in the round of 32.
Newcastle reportedly scouted Suzuki when he started the 1-0 friendly victory against England back in March.

Suzuki is not “their first choice”
The main reason why Newcastle are undecided about signing the Japanese international is down to the fact that they are still keen on recruiting James Trafford from Manchester City.
Chronicle Live report that the England international is still “their first choice”, having tried and failed to buy him on two previous occasions.
City are said to be open to offloading Trafford this summer, but his asking price is expected to be between £35m and £40m, which means he would cost twice as much as Suzuki.
In addition, Trafford has made it clear that he will not leave the Etihad until he returns from the World Cup and holds talks with new City head coach Enzo Maresca.
If the Magpies do wait and see what Trafford does, the delay could leave them at risk of losing out on Suzuki.
