“Nowhere Near Accurate…” Journalist Reveals What Sources Have Told Him About Newcastle’s Transfer Raid On Arsenal

Newcastle are NOT close to finalising a deal to sign Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney, according to the Daily Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards.

There have been rumors that the former Celtic player has already agreed a move to St James’ Park but sources have told Edwards that those claims are “nowhere near accurate”:

It is believed that Tierney is a target for Magpies boss Eddie Howe but it appears that no formal negotiations with the Gunners or the player have taken place so far.

After spending most of the season on the bench at Arsenal, the Scottish international is likely to be very open to joining Newcastle and it is a transfer that fans should keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Signing A Left-Back Is A Priority For Newcastle

While Dan Burn has put in some excellent performances and doesn’t always get the plaudits he deserves, the Magpies are keen to find a different type of option who can offer more going forward.

Howe does have the likes of Matt Targett available to him, but the fact that the 27-year-old has made just five league starts this campaign suggests he could be moved on this summer, with Tierney possibly coming in as his replacement.
