REPORT: Newcastle United Transfer Target ‘Can Leave’ Current Club

Newcastle United transfer target Ansu Fati has been told he can ‘leave the club’ in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to a report from 90min.

Interest in the highly-talented 20-year-old is thought to be high – as things stand, Wolverhampton Wanderers appear to be the frontrunners to acquire his signature. Additionally, West Ham are also thought to be interested.

Despite this, Fati is reportedly unwilling to play for a mid-table Premier League club. Newcastle are guaranteed to secure European football for next season, being 11 points clear of 8th-placed Aston Villa – this could swing the balance in the Magpies’ favour.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all registered an interest in Fati previously, but have seemingly shifted their attention elsewhere in recent months.

Fati has plenty of natural ability, but has experienced a disappointing season for Barcelona in 2022/23. In La Liga, the young Spaniard has scored just four goals and has registered four assists. This is not a terrible return, but it is underwhelming by the Catalonians’ lofty standards.

Barcelona are set to offload a number of players in the summer, as they aim to facilitate a return for club legend Lionel Messi – Fati is expected to be one of them.
