Newcastle United’s time in the Premier League has been mixed, to say the least. It hasn’t all been bad, of course – the Toon have almost always had a spectacular shot-stopper between the sticks.

There have been a number of brilliant ‘keepers at Newcastle over the last 30 years – there are some glaring omissions on this list, such as Ed de Goey, Steve Harper and Rob Elliot. Let’s call these three the honourable mentions for the list.

Most of the ‘keepers on this list can be characterised by having huge talent – while they were all capable of pulling off some wonderful saves, they were also prone to making some huge mistakes.
