Newcastle Ace Addresses £150M Valuation As Chelsea And Arsenal Circle

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak says his reported £150m price tag “doesn’t really faze him” amid speculation about his future.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the Sweden international but the Magpies have attempted to ward off suitors with their eye-watering valuation. Asked whether the amount of money involved bothers him, Isak replied:

“No, it doesn’t really faze me too much. I think that’s more for you guys and for fans to talk about. I’m in the middle of the season and I think it’s going really well for me and the team, so, you know, all my focus is here.”

“I’m really happy with how things are going. My focus is on the pitch.”

Isak’s contract situation remains a concern

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe revealed back in October that talks with Isak’s camp over a new deal had stalled, prompting further speculation about the forward’s future.

However, it should be pointed out that there is no immediate risk in terms of the player leaving St James’ Park. He signed a six-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2028, when he made the move from Real Sociedad 18 months ago.

Newcastle will be desperate to keep him

Considering Isak’s recent form, it is not a surprise that the Magpies have slapped a sky-high asking price on the player. His goal against Manchester United on Monday night was his 8th goal in his last 6 league games. He also provided 2 assists for good measure during that run of matches.

It is fair to say that the Swede will be among the favourites for the Premier League Player of the Month award, along with Liverpool’s Mo Salah, who had an astonishing 14 goal involvements (7 goals and 7 assists) in December.
