Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon is set to sign a new six-year contract, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian reporter says it was originally believed that the England international would put pen to paper on a five-year agreement but he has now been told it will be extended to 2030:
🚨⚪️⚫️ Important detail on Anthony Gordon’s new deal at Newcastle: been told it will be valid until June 2030.
The agreement is done and it’s gonna be for the next 6 years and not 5 as initially expected.

Gordon was seemingly close to leaving for Liverpool during the summer transfer window but it now looks like he will remain at St James’ Park for the long term. While fans on X are pleased about the news, some are hoping it will improve his form after a poor start to the season:

Well that's good to hear…. hopefully he will start to show some of the fight and passion he had last year…because ATM I would play Barnes ahead of him

Hope he reacts to that with a good performance against city.

Great news! Can't wait to see Gordon continue to shine in black & white. What do you think it's gonna take for him to rediscover his best form?

Newcastle have locked down one of their key players
Gordon had an excellent 2023/24 season and it would have been a huge setback for the club if he had left for Anfield.
It was important for the Magpies to tie down the former Everton player to the new deal, not only to end speculation about a transfer, but also to make sure the winger stays beyond his existing contract, which was set to expire in 2026.
Will Gordon have a release clause?
Romano does not give any details on the contract other than its length but another journalist, Ben Jacobs, believes no buyout fee was included.
If that information is accurate, it will make things even more difficult for potential suitors in the future.
