REPORT: Newcastle Have ‘Joined The Chase’ To Sign Canadian Starlet Who Is Lighting Up The Championship

Newcastle are one of six teams keeping close tabs on Burnley winger Luca Koleosho, according to HITC.

The website reports that the Magpies have “joined the chase” for the 20-year-old, who is also attracting interest from the likes of Wolves, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Koleosho only moved to Burnley in July last year, having made the switch from Espanyol for €3m (£2.5m). He managed just 15 appearances before a knee injury ended his first season in England early back in December.

However, the teenager is now back to full fitness, and he has started his second campaign with the Clarets brightly, hitting the back of the net twice in his first 5 appearances.

What do Newcastle fans need to know about the player?

Koleosho is comfortable playing off either wing, having been swapped between both flanks by head coach Scott Parker so far this season.

There is a fight brewing as to which country he should represent. The youngster is eligible to play for the United States, Canada, Italy, and Nigeria.

Koleosho has made appearances for both the US and Italy at Under 20 level and he also accepted a call-up from Canada for their senior team over the past couple of years.

One club has already made a bid for Koleosho

HITC claim that Wolves actually tabled a formal offer during the summer for the winger, only for their proposal to be knocked back by Burnley.

It is believed that Gary O’Neil’s side were lining him up as a potential replacement for Pedro Neto, who left to join Chelsea.

Since then, Newcastle and other clubs have begun scouting Koleosho so there could be plenty of competition for his signature when the transfer window reopens in January.
