Club ‘Prepared’ To Sell 20 y/o Playmaker For £29M As Newcastle, Arsenal And Villa All Circle

Red Bull Salzburg are willing to offload Newcastle transfer target Oscar Gloukh when the transfer window reopens in January, according to Caught Offside.

The website claims that Salzburg are “prepared” to offload the 20-year-old if they receive an offer in the region of €35m (£29m).

It is believed that the Magpies, Arsenal and Aston Villa are all keeping close tabs on Gloukh, while other teams have been scouting the playmaker too.

Caught Offside say that the likes of Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have been “monitoring” him, although they are deemed less likely to table a bid.

What do Newcastle fans need to know about Gloukh?

The Israeli is not the tallest of players at 5ft 7 and he relies on his great ball control and technical ability to make an impact in the final third of the pitch.

Gloukh has been in particularly good form this season, having scored 5 goals in just 7 league games for Salzburg. However, he has been less effective in the Champions League group stages so far, having struggled along with the rest of his teammates, losing 3-0 to Sparta Prague and 4-0 to Stade Brestois.

A new No.10 has been a priority for several transfer windows

Over the past couple of years, Newcastle have tried to land similar players to Gloukh. In the 2023 summer transfer window, they were hopeful of signing James Maddison and Dominik Szoboszlai but neither deal ended up going through.

Since then, Eddie Howe’s side have been linked with the likes of Crystal Palace pair Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise but, again, the club did not secure agreements for either player, with the latter joining Bayern Munich.

Pursuing Gloukh would, therefore, make a lot of sense, especially if he is available for a pretty reasonable fee.
