Newcastle target Serge Gnabry has “no intention of leaving” Bayern Munich this summer, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
It had been reported in the English media that Newcastle were weighing up a £40m bid. However, posting on X, Plettenberg confirmed that, while the Magpies are interested in the former Arsenal player, it is “wide of the mark” to suggest that Gnabry would consider a switch to St James’ Park:
🚨Rumors about a possible transfer of Serge #Gnabry to @NUFC are wide of mark. Newcastle are interested but Gnabry won’t join #NUFC.

While Gnabry looks determined to stay where he is, Bayern have other ideas. It is believed that the Bundesliga are keen to sell the 29-year-old.
They have already recruited Michael Olise from Crystal Palace and they have tabled a bid for Rennes’ Desire Doue. Gnabry could soon find himself behind four other wingers in the pecking order (if you also include Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman).
Newcastle have prioritised the signing of a winger
Manager Eddie Howe has made it clear that he wants to strengthen the right flank before the start of the season, especially if Miguel Almiron leaves to join a team in Saudi Arabia.
Discussions were held with Nottingham Forest about signing Anthony Elanga, only for talks to stall. The Magpies still retain an interest in the Swedish international, though, and a move could be revived before the transfer window closes next month.
West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Chelsea’s Noni Madueke are also on the club’s radar but those deals look pretty unrealistic, considering their teams are keen to keep hold of those two players.
