Bundesliga Giants Keen To ‘Sell’ Ex-Arsenal Player Amid Reports That Newcastle Could Table £40M Bid

Bayern Munich “would like to sell” Newcastle transfer target Serge Gnabry, according to Bild.

It has been reported in the English press that the Magpies are lining up a £40m bid for the 29-year-old, and the German tabloid claim that Bayern would be open to the approach.

The Bundesliga side have recently signed Michael Olise from Crystal Palace and they are also pursuing Desire Doue (having had an opening €35m/£30m offer rejected for the Rennes starlet).

Considering Bayern already have the likes of Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman in their squad who can play out wide, it does indicate that Gnabry’s days in Bavaria could be numbered.

Newcastle want to sign a right winger

Manager Eddie Howe has made strengthening the right flank a top priority for the summer transfer window. The Magpies were one of three clubs (in addition to Bayern and Chelsea) who were given permission to speak to Olise before he eventually made the move to Germany earlier this month.

It is also believed that Howe holds an interest in the likes of West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke and Wolves’ Pedro Neto. Out of those players, though, Gnabry would be among the cheapest to snap up.

There are justifiable concerns about buying Gnabry

The former Arsenal player is close to turning 30 and his injury record is woeful. Over the last four seasons alone, he has picked up SEVENTEEN different injuries, being sidelined for a total of 320 days and missing 52 games.

You can’t see any team paying £40m for Gnabry based on his past fitness problems. On his day, the German international can be outstanding but, unless Bayern are willing to let him leave for a cut-price fee, this transfer is one to avoid.
