Newcastle Join 4 Premier League Clubs In £21M Battle For Norwegian ‘Phenomenon’

Newcastle are among the Premier League teams keeping tabs on FC Nordsjaelland forward Sindre Walle Egeli, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old has been labelled a “phenomenon” and “the next Erling Haaland” by some in the media, and he appears to be attracting a lot of interest.

In addition to the Magpies, it is believed that Brighton, Crystal Palace, Brentford and West Ham have been tracking Egeli’s progress.

The teenager only made his senior debut for Nordsjaelland last season but he has quickly established himself as a regular starter for the Danish club over the last month or so.

What do Newcastle fans need to know about the player?

It should be pointed out that, other than being of the same nationality, there aren’t that many similarities between the youngster and Haaland.

Egeli has been prolific in youth football, having hit the back of the net 25 times in 25 games for Nordsjaelland’s Under 19s, but he has been exclusively deployed as a winger.

He is left-footed, preferring to play on the right flank so he can cut in and shoot on his stronger side.

The hype surrounding Egeli has increased after he made his international debut

Despite making just 12 appearances in senior football, Norway gave him his first cap during the last international break.

Egeli came on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw against Kazakhstan in the Nations League earlier this month. The forward replaced Antonio Nusa for the final ten minutes of the match.

There is no doubt that the young Norwegian has potential but he could cost a sizeable sum. It is believed that Nordsjaelland are holding out for €25m (£21m) even though he has very limited experience at the highest level. It is a transfer story to keep a close eye on.
