Current, Newcastle United have three players who are almost in a dead heat for their top goalscorer award in the Premier League – Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron.
All three players are enjoying fantastic campaigns in their own right. Almiron has burst into life in the current campaign, using his electric pace and consistent end product to net himself 11 goals so far.
Wilson has always been a dangerous forward player – his quickness and underrated physicality make him very difficult for defenders to consistently deal with. So far, he has ten Premier League goals this season.
Finally, we have Isak. The Swedish superstar is similar in many ways to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland – he’s fast, powerful and is a startlingly composed finisher.
Now that we’ve looked at each of the three players, it’s time to make a decision. All things considered, we believe Isak is the most likely to win Newcastle’s top goalscorer award at the end of the season.
Isak has played significantly fewer games than the other two, – yet still, he has 11 Premier League goals to his name this season. Wilson has played 29 Premier League games, while Almiromn has played in 34 – Isak, on the other hand, has made just 20 league appearances this season, largely due to injury.
Of course, there is the possibility that he could become injured again – but as things stand, Isak looks like he will be a great centre-forward for the Toon for years to come.
