Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher was full of praise for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak in a recent Q&A featured on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel.
Carragher said that he ‘loves him to bits’ as he informed viewers of his unending admiration for the 40-cap Swedish international striker.
Additionally, he also went back on his prediction that Newcastle will not make the top four in the Premier League this season. Now, he feels that the Toon have a ‘great chance’ of finishing in the Champions League spots at the end of the campaign.

On Newcastle United’s chances of success in the Premier League this season, Carragher said: “They’re [Newcastle] just brilliant every time I watch them. I do love them and I do love watching them play. There’s something in the back of your mind that says ‘they’ll drop off’, but on the evidence of that first game, to beat Aston Villa, the team everyone are talking about for the top six – 5-1 – is unbelievably impressive.”
Meanwhile, regarding Alexander Isak, the former Liverpool star said: “And Isak up front, I absolutely love him, I love him to bits. I think they’ve got a great chance [of reaching the top four this season].”

If Newcastle’s opening day victory against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa is any indicator of how the season will pan out for the Toon, then Isak could be on course for an historic season leading the line.
He scored a brace against the Villans, as the Toon ran rampant over the Midlands club – in the end, they won by a wide scoreline of 5-1.
Isak has all the necessary components to be a success in the Premier League. He is quick, tall and has wonderful ability with the ball at his feet. Additionally, he is also a very composed finisher.
In many ways, he is similar to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. He does not have the physicality or explosiveness of the Norwegian, but the similarities are on display for all to see.
