Louis Saha Expects “Very Impressive” Newcastle Target To Move Clubs Amid Rumours Of £50M Summer Transfer

Ex-Newcastle striker Louis Saha says he has been impressed with the performances of Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White this season.

The Magpies have reportedly made the 24-year-old one of their top targets for the summer transfer window and, commenting about the player’s recent form, Saha remarked:

“He is a very impressive player. I think he has shown talent but as well very aggressive, capable of getting the ball very high on the field for his strikers, so he provides a good link with Chris Wood at the top.”

“He is a very good leader. He is capable of creating chances for people and he is very clever. I think he is on his way to maybe other suitors. I am very very impressed.”

Gibbs-White has plenty of suitors

Eddie Howe’s side are not the only Premier League club said to be interested in the playmaker, with Arsenal, West Ham and Tottenham also reportedly keeping tabs on him.

Forest are believed to have slapped a £50m price tag on Gibbs-White to ward off potential suitors and that could prove a stumbling block for Newcastle.

The club will need to sell players this summer in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR) so finding the funds for Gibbs-White could prove complicated.

Newcastle have been after a no.10 for quite some time

The Magpies have been planning to recruit an attacking midfielder since the start of last year. However, they failed in their attempts to sign James Maddison (who joined Spurs) and Dominik Szoboszlai (who moved to Liverpool).

It remains to be seen whether it will be third time lucky if they do make a concerted effort to snap up Gibbs-White.
