“Loves The Project…” Journalist Claims Belgian Star Would Consider Newcastle Move Despite Chelsea And Arsenal Links

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana would be interested in joining Newcastle this summer, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

When asked whether the Belgian international is open to a switch to St James’ Park by NUFCBlog.co.uk, Tavolieri replied:

“Yes, why not, he loves the project. For the moment, Newcastle considers Onana as an opportunity. Their interest could become more concrete this summer, as the player decided in January to stay until the end of the season.”

Onana only joined Everton from Lille for £33.5m last year but he is a player in demand. Chelsea and Arsenal have also been mentioned as possible suitors in recent weeks.

If he were to make the move to the North East, he could form a formidable partnership with Bruno Guimaraes in the middle of the park.

Both players have similar skill sets in that they are box-to-box midfielders, who are equally capable in and out of possession. Onana is slightly younger at 21 years of age, but he is 6ft 4 and with a large frame which makes him an imposing presence on the pitch.

If the Magpies do qualify for the Champions League, it would make a move to Newcastle an even more tempting prospect for the player, so we shall see how this transfer story develops.
