Newcastle United fans were disappointed at the result of the EFL Cup final, as they fell to a 2-0 defeat – but they were nonetheless proud of their team’s performance.
Statistically, the game was close – Newcastle had fewer shots on target, but enjoyed a much greater share of possession. In the end, it was Manchester United’s clinical nature that won them the trophy.
The Toon were stunned after two quick fire first half goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford – unfortunately, they failed to find a response.

The morning after… the 68 year wait for a domestic trophy becomes 69 years. But we just get on with it & do what we do best, continue to travel & support our club. Newcastle United unconditional love for life. #nufc

Well it is fair to say Newcastle United won in terms of the fan support this weekend. Absolutely unreal from the second the first Geordie landed in the capital this weekend. There was no comparison. In a league of their own.

Proud of the club!!

Chin up #nufc. Sadly this is football, the best team on the day doesn’t always win. Fine margins and today a close offside & flukey deflection gave them the game. With your continued development you’ll eclipse #mufc in the next 10 years. This is only the beginning.

Now let's invest our money and come back stronger next season . We are The Magpies🖤🤍

Regardless of the result, Magpies fans are remaining positive for the future. They were also satisfied with the effort their team put forth – despite trailing for most of the game, they never stopped fighting.
Some fans even went as far to claim that Newcastle were the better team. This isn’t too far fetched – Newcastle definitely played a more attractive passing game than the Red Devils, but it ultimately proved to be less effective than Erik Ten Hag’s gameplan.
Newcastle’s hunt for an elusive trophy goes on – however, with a solid cup final performance like what we saw yesterday, the Geordies have plenty of reasons to be hopeful.
