Newcastle fullback Tino Livramento was handed the Player of the Match award by Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville for his display against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
The former Chelsea academy graduate started ahead of Kieran Trippier at right-back and he was outstanding, making the most of only his second start since he joined from Southampton in the summer.
Livramento went on a mazy run across half the length of the pitch to set up Miguel Almiron for the opening goal in the 3-0 win, and he was excellent throughout the 90 minutes at Old Trafford. Fans on X lavished praise on the defender after the match:

The £40m spent on Livramento looks justified
Some questioned whether the Magpies were overpaying when they shelled out a significant fee on the 20-year-old at the start of the season.
Livramento had played just 34 senior games prior to his arrival at St James’ Park, as well as having suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out of action for the best part of a year.
However, Newcastle’s recruitment team knew that England Under 21 international had bags of potential and their faith is now paying off.

With Trippier being in such outstanding form, it’s likely that Livramento will have to be satisfied with a place on the bench against Arsenal this weekend.
It’s a luxury for manager Eddie Howe to have such a talented young player in reserve. Supporters will be hoping to see more of him in the very near future.
