Newcastle United Eyeing Up La Liga Wonderkid For Summer Transfer

Newcastle United are believed to be interested in Atletico Bilbao winger Nico Williams and will look to make a move in the summer, according to a report by the Mail Online.

Interest in the 20-year-old is thought to be high – in January, Williams snubbed a move to Aston Villa, which was believed to have included a fee of £45 million. As such, Newcastle may have to pay more than this if they wish to bring him on board. Villa’s interest in the Basque native still remains – due to this, the Toon will need to better their offer in the summer.

Williams has a release clause of £50 million in his contract – if this is met, he will be allowed to leave Bilbao.

Bilbao could be looking to cash in on Williams’ services – his contract is set to run out in the summer of 2024. If Bilbao are unable to agree new terms with the Spanish international, there is every chance that he could leave them on a free transfer.

A lightning-fast wide man, Williams possesses electric pace and adept dribbling ability. Physically, he still has development to do, but this will come with time.

Williams has enjoyed a respectable fruitful season in La Liga so far. In 32 league games, he has scored 6 goals and has registered five assists for Euskaldunak.
