Newcastle have been boosted by the return of Alexander Isak, Joe Willock and Fabian Schar to full training this week.
Chronicle Live have confirmed that the trio have all taken a full part in training sessions in recent days ahead of the clash against Arsenal on Saturday evening.
Isak has been out with a groin injury which he sustained against Aston Villa in the 3-1 win at the end of last month.
The Swedish international was forced off before half-time and he has subsequently sat out the Magpies’ last three fixtures versus Luton Town, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.
There was a chance that Isak could have made the bench against the Cherries last weekend but it was decided that the striker should not be risked.
Willock could return to face his former club
Joe Willock has been out of action since November. It has been an injury-ravaged campaign for the 24-year-old. He started the season sidelined with a hamstring problem.
However, after returning to make six first-team appearances, he was then struck down with an Achilles tendon injury. Considering how long he has been out for, Willock won’t be in contention to start against his former team but he could come on as a substitute.
Schar’s availability for Newcastle’s next game is a surprise
The Swiss defender appeared to injure his wrist during the closing stages of the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth last Saturday. He finished the game but he went down the tunnel holding his arm in a makeshift sling.
Wrist injuries don’t necessarily stop players from making themselves available for selection and it seems Schar is willing to play through the pain barrier to face the Gunners. We shall see if he makes the starting eleven.
