Emmanuel Petit Claims Newcastle May Soon Have Their Very Own Thierry Henry In Their Ranks

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit claims Newcastle striker Alexander Isak does possess the talent to emulate Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

Speaking to BettingSites.co.uk, Petit said that, while the Swedish international has not reached the heights of Henry yet, he does have the attributes to attain that level in the future:

“Alexander Isak is tall, aggressive and has great technique. He wants to score every time he gets the ball but he needs to be more precise in his game. Physically and technically, he has a huge presence on the pitch.”

“If one day someone can tell me that he plays like Thierry Henry, maybe I will believe them, but for the moment it’s really too soon to say that. He’s a good striker and he’s someone that Arsenal would be very happy to have because he brings different qualities.”

Newcastle won’t be selling Isak anytime soon

Despite Petit stating he would like Arsenal to make an offer for the 23-year-old, the Magpies would almost certainly knock back any bid for their no.14.

Isak scored a brace as Eddie Howe’s side thrashed Aston Villa 5-1 on the opening day of the season and, while the forward did draw a blank against Manchester City last time out, many feel that he will be pretty prolific this campaign.

Isak needs to stay fit

The main reason why the Swede did not make as big an impact as he would have liked during his first season at St James’ Park was due to his fitness problems.

Isak spent the best part of three months on the treatment table with a thigh injury last campaign, restricting him to only 17 starts in the Premier League.

Even so, he still scored 10 times, averaging a goal every 153 minutes. The striker could potentially hit 20 if he remains injury-free between now and May.
