Newcastle United Trickster Pens New Contract Until 2026

Miguel Almiron has been one of Newcastle United’s best players this season – as such, the club have taken it upon themselves to tie the Paraguayan down with a new long-term contract until the summer of 2026.

Almiron, 29, is currently Newcastle’s top goal scorer in the Premier League with a total of ten to his name so far. He’s scored more goals than Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling in the league this season. On top of this, he’s also notched up three assists across all competitions.

An excellent dribbler of the ball, Almiron is also lightning quick. This season, he has been able to combine these two attributes with a consistent end product – something he was sorely lacking before the dawn of the current campaign.

Almiron has scored against a number of top Premier League clubs this season, including Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester. However, the speedster has only scored once in his last seven league games – hopefully, he can get back to his goal scoring ways when the Magpies take on Manchester United in the League Cup final on Sunday afternoon.

Almiron was snapped up by Newcastle in 2019 for an undisclosed fee. Before this, he had played for Cerro Porteño, Club Atlético Lanús and Atlanta United – the Toon were not only his first English club, but his first European club, also.

He has won 49 caps for his native Paraguay, with the first coming all the way back in 2015. Across these games, Almiron has scored six international goals for Los Guaraníes.
