Romano Confirms Arsenal Defender Has “Accepted” Offer As Former Newcastle Target Finds New Club

Former Newcastle target Kieran Tierney has “accepted” a proposal to join Real Sociedad on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist claims that the Arsenal defender is now set to make the switch to Spain on a temporary basis, but there is no option to buy in the agreement:

Tierney has been on the Magpies’ radar since the January transfer window but the club surprisingly dropped their interest in the former Celtic player to make a move for Chelsea’s Lewis Hall instead.

It is believed that other teams were interested in signing the Scottish international but Real Sociedad were the only club prepared to pay the fullback’s wages in full during his loan spell.

Have Newcastle completed their transfer business this summer?

In addition to Hall, Eddie Howe’s side have also recruited Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento and youngster Yankuba Minteh over the last few months.

The sizeable outlay has meant that there are limited funds available for further recruits, with the main focus now on offloading players before next Friday’s transfer deadline.

Who could leave St James’ Park?

Ryan Fraser is expected to be the next player to depart the club, with the Scottish international poised to join Championship side Southampton.

Midfielders Jeff Hendrick and Isaac Hayden also don’t have futures with the Magpies but, so far, no offers have been received for the pair. However, that could still change over the next week.
