“I Spoke With Newcastle, With Arsenal, With Tottenham”- £26M Serie A Star’s Agent Confirms Talks With PL Clubs

The agent of Genoa defender Radu Dragusin has revealed that Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham are pursuing the Romanian international.

Speaking to Fanatik, his representative Florin Manea said that the player has ambitions of playing in the Premier League, but there is also interest from AC Milan:

“The people from Genoa know (that he will soon leave). I have been in London for some time and have almost weekly meetings with important teams. We are getting closer. I spoke with Newcastle, with Arsenal, with Tottenham. I also have contact with them, conversations. There are teams that ask.”

“I want to say that, 100% by next summer, Radu will play for a very strong club. One in the top 10 in the world. He wants to be in the Premier League, but I know that Milan like him a lot. I talked to the people there.”

“We have a contract extension offer on the table. We understood each other but we said that, if a club comes and we like it, we want to leave and leave us for around €30m (£26m).”

Newcastle’s interest in Dragusin has now been confirmed

The 21-year-old was first linked with a transfer to St James’ Park earlier this month when journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the Magpies had sent scouts to watch the player in action.

With Arsenal and Spurs now involved, it could make securing Dragusin’s services in January or at the end of the season much more complicated.

Signing a new centre-back is a top priority

With Sven Botman sidelined with a knee injury, and Dan Burn out until the New Year with a back problem, manager Eddie Howe will be keen to reinforce his options in the middle of defence.

Dragusin is a promising young defender so he would certainly fit the profile in terms of the types of target that sporting director Dan Ashworth and the recruitment team are looking for.

On top of that, the Romanian is adaptable, having also been deployed as a right-back and left-back in his career.
