The agent of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has “received calls” from Newcastle, Manchester United and Bayern Munich, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Italian publication claims that the three clubs appear to be the keenest to sign the Nigerian international this summer, along with Paris Saint-Germain.
Osimhen has been in outstanding form this season, racking up 30 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions, but he has been widely tipped for a transfer.
Gazzetta report that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis won’t sell the 24-year-old for less than €150m (£129m), and he is hoping that the asking price will put off potential suitors.
Osimhen’s valuation will certainly prove unaffordable for most, although Newcastle would be one of the few teams who could pull off such a deal.
Will Newcastle’s owners open up their pockets to sign Osimhen?
PIF have been rather conservative with their transfer spending up until now, as they try to keep within Financial Fair Play rules. However, Champions League qualification could prove to be a game-changer.
Going after players like Osimhen is now well within their reach. It should be noted, though, that one of the clubs not mentioned in Gazzetta‘s report, Chelsea, would likely be among their fiercest competitors for the striker, but the Magpies could arguably be a more attractive destination now after finishing in the top four.
