Newcastle are one of the four “frontrunners” to snap up Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda this summer, according to the Evening Standard‘s Simon Collings.
The journalist reports that the Magpies will be joined by Arsenal, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund in trying to secure the teenager’s signature:
Lots of clubs around Europe interested in Ivan Fresneda. Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Newcastle viewed as four frontrunners. Player will decide future in summer.https://t.co/ds968MLyj3

Fresneda was heavily linked with a move during the January transfer window but he did not press to leave Valladolid as he is happy with the amount of game time that he is getting.
The defender does have a £26.5m release clause but it is widely believed that Valladolid will settle for a lower price, especially as the highest fee they have ever received for a player is the £10.9m they got from Southampton for Mohammed Salisu.
Considering Kieran Trippier’s position as first choice right-back is set in stone, it remains to be seen if the Magpies can persuade Fresneda into moving to St James’ Park.
