Newcastle Backed To Make Summer Swoop For 55M Brazilian Ace After Arsenal Had Bid ‘Rejected’ In January

Newcastle are targeting Barcelona winger Raphinha ahead of the next transfer window, according to Sport.

The Catalan newspaper claims that the Magpies have made the former Leeds star one of their “main objectives” for the summer.

Raphinha only joined Barca last year for £55m, having turned down an offer from Chelsea to secure his switch to the Camp Nou. However, he has struggled to nail down a starting spot at the La Liga club.

It has led to speculation that the Brazilian international could be available even though Sport claim a bid was “rejected” from Arsenal for the player in January.

Whether Barcelona would be more accommodating to selling Raphinha at the end of the season, it isn’t known. The Catalan club reportedly do need to sell in order to balance the books but a lot will also depend on whether the player wants the move. We shall see how this transfer story plays out.
