Newcastle On Alert As Chelsea Weigh Up Selling Summer Target For 22M

Chelsea will consider selling Newcastle target Ruben Loftus-Cheek for €25m (£22m), according to reports in the Italian media.

The Magpies have a longstanding interest in the 27-year-old, and it is now believed that the midfielder will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer as the Blues plan a clearout of their first-team squad.

Loftus-Cheek actually played at right wingback in Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Leeds on Saturday, and he has also started a number of matches in midfield recently.

However, with the London club needing to raise funds for other transfers, it is believed that the England international will be one of the players who will be sacrificed.

Loftus-Cheek’s availability has not only alerted Newcastle. Current Serie A champions AC Milan are also said to be interested in the player.

The Rossoneri do have a good relationship with Chelsea, having recruited Fikayo Tomori from the Blues a couple of years ago, but you would expect the Magpies’ to be favourites due to their extra financial muscle.
