Newcastle Scout £61M Rated Playmaker As They Draw Up Three Man List Of Summer Targets

Newcastle had scouts in attendance to watch RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai in action against Werder Bremen at the weekend, according to reports in Germany.

The representatives from the Magpies would have been impressed by what they saw as the Hungarian international scored in stoppage time to secure a last-gasp 2-1 win.

It is believed that Szoboszlai is one of Eddie Howe’s top targets for the summer transfer window, and Sunday’s scouting trip was not the first time they have seen the 22-year-old play either.

Other Premier League teams, including Chelsea, have been linked with the playmaker in recent months, but Newcastle appear to be the ones prepared to put money on the table.

Szoboszlai reportedly has a €70m (£61m) release clause, which would make any deal easier to negotiate and, with the player keen on playing in the Champions League next season, he would not be against a switch to the North East.

Is Szoboszlai the only player that Newcastle are pursuing?

In addition to a central midfielder, the Magpies are also said to be in the market for a right winger and a centre-back. Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby is likely to be one of the other targets, along with Torino’s Perr Schuurs.
