Newcastle are emerging as frontrunners to sign Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, according to reports in the Catalan media.
Barcelona have been widely regarded as favourites to secure the services of the Portuguese international up until now but they have cooled their interest in the player.
With Neves having just a year left on his contract, Wolves could let him leave for only €35m (£30m) and most fans on Twitter think the Magpies should consider snapping him up for that price:
I would love this move!!!

30 mil would be a steal given some of the prices quoted elsewhere

Newcastle should be wary of Neves’s agent
Reports in the English media have suggested that Jorge Mendes, the player’s representative, has been trying to manufacture competition for the client’s signature by claiming that Barca’s interest was stronger than it actually was.
That has prompted English clubs, like Newcastle and Arsenal, to keep their distance up until recently, but it seems as if Neves could now become available for a pretty low price.
Even a year ago, Wolves’ valuation was as high as £75m to £80m so to bring him in for a fraction of that figure would be a great bit of business.
Newcastle’s transfer budget
It is believed that, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, the Magpies may only be able to spend £75m before sales this summer.
That would be another reason why Neves would be a decent addition to the squad, as it would still leave a good amount left in the transfer kitty for other potential purchases.
