Newcastle United Reportedly ‘Interested’ In Former Chelsea Defender – But They Aren’t Alone

Newcastle United are believed to be ‘interested’ in AC Milan and former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori, according to a report from 90min.

A powerful, technically adept centre-half, Tomori would be a fantastic addition to Newcastle’s squad. While he will face stiff competition in the form of Fabian Schar and Sven Botman, he would likely play well alongside either of the two. With Schar entering the final years of his career, it makes sense to bring in a top-quality replacement sooner rather than later.

Newcastle are not the only club who are thought to be monitoring the 25-year-old, however. Both Manchester United and Arsenal are believed to be interested in acquiring his services – the Toon will need to beat both clubs to the punch if they are to bring Tomori on board.

Tomori left Chelsea in 2021, after AC Milan snapped him up following a successful loan spell at the club for a fee of £25 million. Since then, he has gone on to make 59 appearances for the Italian giants, scoring a solitary goal in the Serie A.

Outside of Milan and Chelsea, Tomori has also spent time at clubs such as Brighton, Hull City and Derby County. Could Newcastle be the 25-year-old’s next career destination?
