Newcastle United Vs Southampton: Match Preview And Injury News

Following a pair of impressive wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, Newcastle United will be hoping to continue their purple patch with a victory over bottom club Southampton.

Newcastle are set to be without Emil Krafth and Ryan Fraser for their game against the Saints – Allan Saint-Maximin is also a doubt, but he could be fit to play. Currently, it’s a race against time for the tricky Frenchman.

In their last game, Newcastle thumped a sorry Everton outfit at Goodison Park by a score of 4-1. The Toffees initially put up a spirited resistance, but Newcastle eventually broke them down, allowing the floodgates to open. The Toon’s goalscorers on the day were Joelinton, Jacob Murphy and Callum Wilson (who netted a brace).

Meanwhile, Southampton slumped to yet another disappointing defeat in their last game, as they were beaten by fellow relegations rivals Bournemouth at St. Mary’s Stadium. After an uneventful first half, Marcus Tavernier scored the only goal of the game as the Saints remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

When the two teams last came to blows, Newcastle thumped Southampton away from home by a score of 4-1, with Miguel Almiron, Chris Wood, Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes all registering their names on the scoresheet. How will the reverse fixture pan out?
