Real Madrid have identified Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as their “plan B” if they miss out on Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, according to Defensa Central.
The Spanish website reports that the Brazilian international will be watched between now and the end of the season as Real consider alternatives to strengthen their midfield.
Guimaraes has a contract until 2026 and the Magpies could even offer him a new deal with an improved salary if bids are made for the player this summer.
Defensa Central claim that Real are aware of the difficulties in pursuing the 25-year-old but they may still try their luck in the hopes that the midfielder will ask for a move.
While Bellingham remains the number one priority for the European champions, Liverpool are believed to be the frontrunners for the teenager. With Chelsea and Manchester City also reportedly keen, it isn’t surprising that Real are keeping an eye on other players like Guimaraes.
