REPORT: Newcastle Are Planning 78M Double Transfer Raid On Bundesliga Giants

Newcastle are plotting a summer move for Bayer Leverkusen pair Mitchel Bakker and Moussa Diaby, according to 90min.de.

The German website claims that Bakker, who was linked with a £16m move to the Magpies back in January, could make the switch to St James’ Park at the end of the season.

After falling out of favour at the BayArena, his club are reportedly prepared to let him leave, with Newcastle seeing him as a potential alternative to Dan Burn.

Diaby, meanwhile, has been a long-term target for Eddie Howe’s team. They seriously considered making an offer for the Frenchman last year but they were put off by the winger’s €70m (£62m) price tag.

Financial Fair Play rules meant that Newcastle decided to hold back from splashing out on the player, but the deal could be revived this summer. Arsenal are also known to be keen admirers so the Magpies may have a battle on their hands to secure his signature.
