Newcastle remain “keen” on recruiting Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to The Mirror.
The Magpies were linked with a loan move for the 23-year-old last summer, along with West Ham and Crystal Palace, but he remained at Stamford Bridge.
Gallagher’s situation could change at the end of the season and, with Chelsea needing to raise funds in order to stay within Financial Fair Play rules, they could be prepared to sell.
The England international, who has been capped six times by his country, hasn’t been a regular starter for the Blues and he could well be open to leaving the London club.
Newcastle are unlikely to be the only team pursuing Gallagher’s services, though, with Liverpool also having been credited with an interest in the player.
With Eddie Howe’s team looking favourites to finish in the top four this campaign, the midfielder could be tempted by a move to the North East if they do secure Champions League football.
