Ex-Newcastle defender Jose Enrique claims his former club should consider selling Alexander Isak if they receive a bid in the region of £70m.
The Swedish international has had his injury problems since arriving at St James’ Park and, due to the intensity of Eddie Howe’s style of play, Enrique believes the Magpies should seriously contemplate offloading the player:
“The problem with Alexander Isak – and we’ve said this about him even when he was at Real Sociedad – is that he’s always injured. The way Newcastle want to play is with high intensity and pressing from the front and you can’t be expected to fulfil that if you’re getting three or four injuries every year. If someone comes along and offers them the £70m that they spent to sign him in the first place then they need to think about it.”
It’s fair to say that Newcastle fans on X are not buying Enrique’s suggestion whatsoever:

Isak’s injury history since he joined Newcastle
After joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad for a club-record fee in the summer of 2022, the 24-year-old has been sidelined for 160 days due to injury.
It is definitely not the best fitness record, but it isn’t the worst either, and Isak’s performances this season do suggest he is well worth keeping.
Other Premier League teams are interested in the striker
Arsenal have been linked with Isak in recent weeks and, during the last international break, the player addressed the interest head-on.
At the moment, it appears as if the forward is happy to remain at St James’ Park, and you can’t see the club letting him go anytime soon.
